1. Acceptance of terms
By completing your purchase and enrolling in a class, you agree to be bound by the applicable Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Refund Policy. These terms apply to both the enrolling parent or guardian and the enrolled student.

2. Services
I provide online social studies courses for high school students, including subjects such as US and world history, civics, current events, and geopolitics. Courses are designed to encourage critical thinking, discussion, and engagement with historical and contemporary issues.

Academic Credit:  Where noted, courses are structured to meet the Carnegie Unit definition for high school credit. Depending on the course length and instructional hours, classes may be eligible for half-credit or full-credit on a high school transcript. Families are responsible for confirming credit acceptance with their local school district or umbrella school, if applicable. At the end of each semester or yearlong course, students will be provided with a detailed summary of the class content, and a number grade based on the published rubric for the class.

3. Enrollment Requirements
To enroll and remain enrolled in courses, families and students must meet the following requirements:

  • Accurate Information:  Parents or guardians must provide accurate and up-to-date contact and account information. This information is essential for communication regarding class meetings, scheduling, and course-related updates.

  • Student Eligibility:  Students must
    • Be within the designated age or grade range for the course
    • Be able to complete the required coursework independently or with appropriate support

4. Technology Requirements
To participate successfully in live online classes, students must have:

  • Families are responsible for ensuring that students have access to appropriate technology and a stable internet connection. I am not responsible for missed instruction, reduced participation, or technical issues resulting from insufficient or malfunctioning devices, software, or internet service.
  • Students are expected to engage with assigned readings, activities, and written work to the best of their ability. Differences in processing speed, and communication preferences are recognized. Students are encouraged to use strategies that support their individual learning needs.
  • Parents and students are responsible for monitoring class communication platforms and responding in a timely manner. Requests for accommodations, clarification, or support are welcome and should be communicated respectfully and as early as possible.
  • Students are expected to engage respectfully with peers and the instructor. The class community values diverse perspectives, communication styles, and ways of engaging. Disruptive behavior, harassment, or actions that interfere with others’ ability to learn are not permitted.

  • All students and families are expected to adhere to expected community standards, including respectful communication, appropriate online behavior, and adherence to class guidelines. Failure to meet these expectations may result in disciplinary action or removal from the course.

4. Privacy and Recording

  • All class sessions will be recorded for safety. Recordings will be kept for the duration of the class.
  • Students may not record live classes or share class materials, recordings, or personal information of others without permission. Respect for personal boundaries and privacy is expected at all times.

5. Communication

7. Disclaimers and limits of liability

No Guarantees of Outcomes: While courses are designed to provide high-quality instruction, meaningful engagement, and opportunities for academic growth, no specific outcomes are guaranteed. Total liability, if any, shall be limited to the amount paid for the applicable course.

Nothing in this section is intended to limit liability where such limitation is prohibited by law.

Safety or Well-Being Concerns: Access may be suspended if behavior raises concerns about the safety or well-being of the student, other students, or the instructor.

Instructor Discretion: In rare cases, access may be suspended or terminated when continued participation is no longer in the best interest of the learning community.

Process and Communication: When possible, families will be notified of concerns and given an opportunity to address them before access is suspended or terminated. Immediate action may be taken when necessary to protect the learning environment.

Refunds, if any, will be handled according to the posted Refund Policy.
